Cow Comfort

We received an email from someone concerned about our cows’ comfort. She wondered if they ever got to walk around, concerned about them being in tie stalls.

Our response to her was as follows:

Cow comfort is our number one priority. Our cows are free to roam every day. They are able to choose when they want to eat, lie down or hang out with the other cows and socialize. The only time the cows are confined is during milking which lasts about 10 to 15 minutes.

Our main dairy barn is climate controlled for the cows’ comfort. We have large fans which keep the air moving, and our walls are actually curtains which adjust to accommodate air flow and regulate the temperature, keeping the barn cool. This summer has been extremely hot and our cows have remained cool and comfortable in our barns.
